Perfect and Easy Chocolate Chip Cookies

We all want that perfect soft homemade chocolate chip cookie in our baking arsenal and now with this recipe we have it! This recipe is simple and easy and produces the perfect chocolate cookie. Complete with some tips for achieving a consistent cookie each time!


We start this recipe with a delicious brown butter that delivers a deep nutty flavor that permeates the cookie. To make your brown butter, in a sauce pan over medium heat melt butter. Continue to cook and stir constantly until butter turns a golden brown. Remove from heat, transfer to mixing bowl and cool to room temperature.

Add sugars to mixing bowl with browned butter. With a metal whisk mix butter and sugars until well-combined. Stir in vanilla, coffee, and egg.

With a wooden spoon add the flour, baking soda, and salt. To ensure a soft cookie be sure to not over mix your flour. Stop incorporating the flour just before it is fully combined. Stir in chocolate chips.

Scoop out cookies using a 2 oz. cookie scoop and place on baking sheet. Chill in the refrigerator for at least an hour. (Cookies can be stored in freezer for a couple months)

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Bake for 12-14 minutes. Let cool for 3 minutes then remove from baking sheet.

These cookies are now ready to enjoy! Make extra to store in the freezer. These cookies are the perfect treat after a long day at work or something quick and warm for your kids after dinner. Remove from freezer and bake while your family is eating dinner and they will be ready to devour for dessert.

  • 1 teaspoon leftover coffee (optional)

  • 1 large egg

  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt

  • 3/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips

  • 1/4 cup dark chocolate chips

Directions:

Tips:

  • To ensure a soft cookie be sure to not over mix your flour. Stop incorporating the flour just before it is fully combined.

  • For a consistent cookie, always chill your dough for at least 1 hour before baking. This will ensure that the butter is the same temperature when going into the oven each time. A consistent butter temperature will produce a consistent baked cookie.

  • Store dough in freezer bags for up to 1 month for a quick treat any time of the day.
