Cake Ordering Process and FAQ

HOW DO I PLACE AN ORDER?

We have multiple options for order placing. Orders can be placed over the phone, in our storefront, on our online store, or by submitting our Custom Quote Form on our website. To place an order there are a few things needed which we will cover here so that you can be best prepared to order your dream cake for your event. Those needs are:

  • Date and time of your event

  • Theme of event (design preferences, colors, style)

  • Amount of servings needed

  • Flavor preferences

  • Payment to finalize your order and place on our schedule

We will go over these details and more information on this page to help you get ready for your celebration.

THEME OF EVENT AND DESIGN IDEAS

Once you have selected the date and time for your event the next step would be to design the theme, style, and colors for the celebration. Some great options for this would be to spend a little time searching through Pinterest, Google, or our online social media pages or webpage gallery for reference photos of designs that you like. One great thing that we love about our business is that we are not limited by design or difficulty. We feel very confident that we can create anything you would like for your event. So if simple is not your style feel free to dream big for your celebration. One thing to keep in mind when designing your cake is the shape of your cake. Some options to think of are round cakes, square cakes, sheet cakes, or sculpted/realistic cakes.

AMOUNT OF SERVINGS NEEDED

Now that you have your theme and design narrowed down the next step is to decide what size is needed. To start this process estimate the amount of people you intend to invite to your event. Once you have an estimated number of guests and design ideas in mind we can begin selecting the best size cake for your event. Many bakeries use serving charts provided by online companies that quite frankly aren't adequate serving amounts. Many of these are very small slices and would leave your guests wanting more. When ordering from Cakebuds Bakery we intend for all of your guests to leave satisfied and full of delicious cake!

For example, many serving charts you will find online will say that a 6" round cake serves as many as 12 people. Our 6" cake serves approximately 8 guests with a satisfying slice of cake each.

With the design of your cake in mind and the amount of servings needed take a look at our serving chart below to help you in deciding and visualizing the number and size of tiers you would like for your cake design.

FLAVORS

Along with our ability to create any design you would like we also have a skilled staff capable of creating the flavor combination to wow your guests. To help with deciding on the flavors you would like we have composed a list of the most common flavors that are requested. You are in no way limited to this list, if there is a flavor you love that you do not see on our list feel free to request and we will do our best to meet your needs.

Our flavor list can be found here.

FINALIZING YOUR ORDER

Once you have finalized your date, theme, serving amount and size, and flavors for your cake and have received a price quote for your cake we do require payment to place your order on our schedule. We can accept payment over the phone, in our storefront, or we can provide an invoice by email that can be paid online.

We accept cash and credit cards via Square. We require payment to finalize all orders at the time of booking. Our schedule is often booked 10-14 days in advance so we highly recommend getting your order placed with payment as early as possible. We do hit our limit each week and cannot take orders past that limit due to the quality of work we strive to place into each order. If you have enquired about an order but have not placed your payment to secure your date by the time our weekly limit is reached we will not be able to add your order to our schedule at that point.

PICKUP AND STORING YOUR CAKE

Important instructions for preparing your car, delivering, and storing your cake.

  • Generally, your cake will be packaged in a sealed box to protect your cake from dust, rain or foreign objects (with the exception of extremely large or gravity defying cakes that may not fit packaging)

  • The best way to transport your cake is in the back of a van, station wagon or SUV. If none of these options are available, it is possible to transport smaller sized cakes in the floorboard of a car, however this is a last resort due to the potential for damage.

  • Under no circumstances should a cake be transported on a vehicle seat. (It is also highly discouraged to transport your cake on someone’s knee/lap)

  • Please prepare the back of the vehicle in advance of picking up the cake by clearing out any loose objects and vacuuming/shaking out any debris.

  • On warm days, it is imperative that your vehicle have a working cooling unit (air conditioning). Please run it before your pickup until your car’s interior is cool

  • Allowing pets to be in the car during a cake transport is strongly discouraged.

  • Driver must take extreme caution, keeping the vehicle level at all times, especially when turning corners, and must avoid any sudden acceleration, cornering or aggressive braking.

  • Please adhere to the agreed-upon pick up time.

  • Upon arrival at the event venue, be sure to set up the cake in a cool display area away from sunlight (and away from anywhere sunlight might move to) without delay

  • Cakes should be stored in a refrigerator until the time of your event. We recommend removing from the refrigerator 2 hours prior to your event and allowed to come to room temperature before serving.

SHOULD YOU HAVE YOUR CAKE DELIVERED?

When finalizing your cake something to keep in mind is the transport of your cake. Fortunately we do offer local delivery which may make your event feel less stressful and more secure. We do recommend for any cake more than 2 tiers high that you strongly consider delivery. Cakes must travel with care and we have a lot of experience ensuring safe and timely delivery.
